It is good to see that the long awaited oss version 4 has finally been released. I am using the i386.deb package on Ubuntu Edgy & first impressions are very favourable.
Dev, Hannu & the rest of the team at 4front-tech should be congratulated on their achievement. I am sure that there will be bugs/teething troubles found as this new version is used on various architecture and platforms around the world. I would like to start this list with one that has not been fixed from the last release candidate.
ossmix -s vmix0-vol
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Yes I know this is a mal-formed command line but it should still be trapped.
Incidentally: ossmix -s vmix0-vol 20 works fine though the -s option is redundant.
I would also like to point out an error in oss-install.pdf. On page 5 "Check that the license has been properly registered by typing cat /dev/sndstat (or typing ossinfo)", typing ossinfo or even ossinfo -v gives no indication of license registration.
regards
