Xonar FreeBSD error

Greetings!
Tried to install OSS-4.0-1014 on FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE with the ASUS Xonar D2.

cmi87880: <CMedia> port 0x5000-0x50ff irq 18 at device 3.0 on pci5
OSS: Unable to allocate 4096 bytes for a DMA buffer
run soundoff and run soundon again.
osscore: Failed to allocate DMA buffer for audio engine 0/CMedia CMI8788 (MultiChannel)

with same message upon soundoff -> soundon

useing a PAE kernel, haven't tried without PAE (out of topic: PAE seems to be a problem with the windows drivers)

(tried the FreeBSD OSS port as well with the same results)
