Can't make oss work on FreeBSD

I have installed oss v4.1 b1051 on FreeBSD 7.1, every thing looks okay, OSS detect's my soundcard and recognises it, pcm is unmutet. But there are simply no sound at all, not in any of my soundoutputs.
My soundcard chipset is cmi8788. Can anybody please help?
[edit by cesium: this was taken to oss-devel. The Xonar D2's DAC chip isn't supported yet by the driver, though the coax output might work]
